Starting fresh on Instagram can be tricky and might require loads of time and persistence. Once you think of growing an Instagram page, the very first thing that comes to your mind is growing your followers to thousands overnight and getting hundreds of likes in your posts.
To be honest there is no possible way of rising to thousands of followers overnight until you might be in search of bots or some fake followers. The fake followers might make you think that you have hundreds of people following you but in reality there is no one. These followers will do no good to your profile as they are not going to like, comment, share or save or anything else that an actual follower would possibly do.
So how are you going to truly develop your Instagram growth and grow to thousands of followers? Below I’ve tried to show how you can grow your Instagram account from zero in probably the most easiest way possible. So let’s get began!
Milestone #1: Grwing 0 – 1000 Followers
The first milestone when beginning a brand new Instagram account is always the trickiest. Why? Because you don’t have any momentum. You’ve got no likes, no followers, nobody is aware of about your page and you are just there standing in the middle of nowhere. So what was my strategy while starting my own page?
Starting Strategy: Instagram Story Ads
The reason I chose Instagram Story Ads as my starting strategy was because when you are starting from fresh, you have nothing to go off of. No momentum to push you on to the explore page or rank in hashtags. Instagram Story Ads however work no matter what. You can have 100k followers or no followers. The strategy I used for Instagram Story Ads work the exact same.
When setting up the ad on Facebook Ad Manager, I chose the objective for the ad as Traffic. I’ve been experimenting with all the different options but using “Traffic” always gives us the best CPC (cost per click).
For the Audience targeting, you’ve got 2 different options.
Location – Age – Language – People Who Match ‘X’ Interest.
The locations we chose were Third World Countries(tier 3 locations). The reason for this is because in the start, the number one struggle is low engagement.
So because of this, we targeted India and other tier 3 countries. This would make the cost extremely low, and followers from these countries are the most engaged consumers on Instagram in the entire world. (By these followers liking your posts, your engagement will increase, then you will rank on hashtags = explore page which means you will be able to organically target tier 1 countries such as USA, UK, EUROPE etc… and gain A LOT of followers).
You want to run ads to people with those selected interests. Facebook knows this, so you can choose whatever interests you want.
For my business account, I chose the interests to be:
- Tai Lopez
- Gary Vee
- Grant Cardone
- Tony Robbins
- On-line Advertising
- Motivational quotes
Next up you chose your budget. I recommend doing no lower than $5 a day. For my campaign, I spend about $10 a day.
This was my strategy from 0 followers all the way up to 1000 followers. In total I spent $36 to get to 1000 followers with ads. This all comes down to you creating a good ad copy. The better the ad is, the less money you’re gonna spend and the better of an ROI you’re gonna see.
Milestone #2: From 1000 – 5000 Followers
The next challenge is getting the account from 1000 followers to 5000 followers. For this I stopped the ads to use some other strategies. Now the only reason I stopped the ads was so I could track the exact growth I would get from other strategies. You should however not stop the ads when you’ve found a set that is performing.
Methods: Influencer Advertising + Hashtags & Explore page.
Here is a simple guide to succeeding with Instagram Influencers:
- Find Influencers with quality engagement
- Start with influencers who have 20k-100k followers
- Check their comments(look for organic comments)
- Check their likes(look for small accounts liking their pics, because if they are getting likes from a lot of big pages, it’s likely that they are using power likes or some other source of engagement boost)
- Start by buying newsfeed promotions Create a good ad copy (the image you use for the promo)
- Create a good caption for the image
- Test the ad copy on 3 different influencers on different times(To track your results accurately
The most important thing here for you to know is that some influencers with 1m followers might perform worse than influencers with 30k followers. This is why you need to test.
Milestone #3: From 5000 – 10,000 Followers!
Now for the remaining 5000 followers to 10k and beyond, the primary focus goes to be to rank on explore page and hashtags. As by now we have already got a fairly good following with a good engagement rate so now with the right content we can simply begin rank on explore page and hashtags.
When selecting hashtags for your page, select 15 hashtags that are beneath the scale of 150k, 5 that are above 150k and rest 10 hashtags associated to the kind of post you’re posting. It will enhance your probabilities of ranking on hashtags. Keep experimenting with hashtags till you a really performing set of hashtags. The more hashtags you rank on the more reach and likes you’ll get. Hashtags do provide you with fairly good likes however they do not deliver you enough followers. And that’s where the explore page comes in.
The principle technique for going viral on explore page is posting viral content and giving your post good quality early engagement to put it up on explore page. The quality of your content decides too whether you will rank on explore page or not. The more viral the content has been on another page before, the higher the chances of yours of being ranked on explore page if you recreate and post the same on your page. This is just a simple gold technique that works almost every time. You can also use engagement networks like EXM to provide your post some early engagement. The explore page is at all times hardest to rank on so it requires sufficient time and consistency to rank on.
